Psalm 23 is so well used that it is easy to overlook it, or even worse to think of it as being ‘sweet’ – something that’s good for funerals because it offers comfort, but of little use to us in our everyday lives.
But as with so many of the psalms, this is a David psalm – prayed by a guy struggling with jobs, family, failure and guilt.
If we can imagine ourselves kneeling bedside David, maybe we will learn to pray it again in a fresh way, in a way that will give us the confidence we need for confusing days.
