Midweek Musings – Contradictions and Grace

This week we have reflections from Neil, our latest news and some other useful information.

Acting Like Jesus – Healing

Can anything change?
Do things always have to be the same?

The early Christians in Acts were certain of a few things: that Jesus had risen from the dead and that meant that things could change – even the worst of things.

The same truths define us: we live in a world where awful things happen. But the resurrected Jesus is still at work.…

Sunday Playlist – Acting Like Jesus – Healing

In Acts 9:32-43, we meet a woman who has two names; “Tabitha” in Aramaic and “Dorcas” in Greek. She was just one of those unsung heroes of the church community. Luke describes her as full of good works and charity and she was part of a group of widows who made clothes by hand. When she died, the weeping widows did what most of us do when we lose someone we love. They clung to items and memories associated with her; the clothes she’d made. They showed them to Peter as they grieved the loss of their close friend.

This week we have reflections from Neil, our latest news, some useful links/resources and an interview with Nev.

The next months are likely to be tough for many people in terms of jobs. Nev knows only too well what it feels like to struggle with being made redundant and the search for work. Here he talks about his experiences and how he has learned to cope with these tricky situations.

Within 3 years of Saul’s dramatic conversion in Damascus, his life is under threat and he has to escape with the help of some disciples. This became a recurring theme throughout the rest of his life.

Saul paid a really high price to follow Jesus, but he was willing to count up the cost and decided it was well worth it.

In this episode of our Sunday Playlist podcast, I share some songs that explore this theme…

This week we have reflections from Neil, our latest news, some useful links/resources and an interview with Frank.

Frank has been keeping rhythm for us for decades. But he’s also made films for us, been part of the Governing Body, been through some of the best times and as well as the trickiest with us.

This is a chance to know little more about him.

And we don’t mention Manchester United once…

The Gospel Breaks New Ground – Enemies

In Luke’s tale of two visions, God calls two people to change their life plans in order for the gospel of Jesus to spread further.

This week we have reflections from Neil, our latest news, some useful links/resources and an interview with Vera.

Vera is one of the people who has prayed daily for our church, who is now 94 years old. She’s frail, bed-bound, waiting for heaven. Watch her interview here…
