When Jesus was transfigured, it wasn’t that something new happened to him. Rather, it was the reality about him that became apparent – the disciples had ‘augmented vision’ and saw Jesus or the first time. The wonder of it is that Paul suggests that the Spirit is doing a similar work in our lives as believers.
