Leviticus 25 is one of the chapters in the Bible that demonstrates how differently we see life than the way God suggested it should be for his people. The Year of Jubilee offered a completely different economic model for his people to live by. It was one that took into account both Justice and Mercy in a brilliant weaving together that enabled people to live responsibly and yet with hope for the periods of life when things go really wrong.
I love the central teaching that once in every lifetime everyone had the chance to start again. And I love the fact that Jesus picks up on that theme for his disciples.
