Advent: Peace (Day 2)

I really like how the lyrics merge the hope for world peace, with the desperate reality of war and conflict.

The chorus is a prayer too:

Jesus, will you take the time to throw a drowning man a line.

I also love the line:

Jesus, in a song you wrote – the words are sticking in my throat

as it has several layers of meaning.

I think Bono is referring to the Christmas Carols we tend to sing and how some don’t match with the current reality of the world.

I think this is why we need to keep yesterdays passage in mind although I know how hard I t can be to do this.

“May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!

    Romans 15:13 (The Message)
