At Christmas we can over-emphasise a certain type of love: the sentimental, romantic, nostalgic. The true Christmas love is a tougher love: a love that breaks into the injustice, a love that is on the side of the underdog and the unwanted, a love that brings hope to those who feel trapped in situations that won’t change, a love that offers life.
‘I will tend My flock and let them lie down.’ [This is] the declaration of the Lord GOD. ‘I will seek the lost, bring back the strays, bandage the injured, and strengthen the weak, but I will destroy the fat and the strong. I will shepherd them with justice.’
(Ezekiel 34:15-16)
For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16)

Thank you Lord that you came to teach us by your example to love the unlovely; to care for each other and those we would rather ignore. Without your help it’s impossible but we can do all things through you who loved us and gave Himself for us.
Love the verse from Ezekiel.
