One of the titles given for Jesus in the Christmas story is ‘Emmanuel’, meaning “God with us”.
This was a sign from a prophecy of Isaiah, that Jesus’ birth was the fulfilment of the hopes of Israel for generations; that one day God would return to set his people free.
The video above is one of my favourite reworkings of the carol, ‘O Come, O Come, Emmanuel’, an echo of the yearning of Israel, and their hope that one day God would be among us once again.

It’s wonderful that Jesus came to be with us as one of us and to save those that his father had given him before the foundation of the world. We are his people bought with his own blood. God with us the hope of glory!!!
Hope endures!
