Ask the shepherds a question

The shepherds – a group of people on the margins of society, treated as dirty and looked down on by everyone, yet chosen to be the first people to meet the newborn king.

What would you ask the shepherds?

Leave them a question below, and they’ll reply.

  • RE Bury Church

Were you bored looking after sheep all the time? from year 8 pupil

    • TheShepherds

It definitely got boring overnight sometimes, but the angels appearing certainly made that night more interesting!

  • RE Bury Church

Would you eat one of the sheep if you got hungry? from year 8 pupil

    • TheShepherds

No, because we don’t own the sheep – we just look after them for the owner.

  • RE Bury Church

There are hundreds of shepherds, why do you think your particular group was chosen? from year 8 pupil

    • TheShepherds

To be honest, we don’t know, but we’re really glad that we were. It’s been an amazing experience!

  • RE Bury Church

How did you know where to find Jesus? Did you know about the star too? from M. in Year 8

    • TheShepherds

We didn’t know about the star, but the angels gave us some clues to help us find Jesus, about him wrapped in cloths, and lying in a manger.

So we went straight down to Bethlehem – although it was busy because of the census, it’s not a very big town, so it wasn’t too hard to find where a newborn baby was sleeping in a feeding trough for animals, as it’s such an unusual thing to happen!
